The Australian government has released technical specifications for Australian net filtering. ISP content filtering is part of the government’s $125.8 million Plan for Cyber Safety which will split funds between law enforcement, technology and education to reduce the proliferation of child porn and inappropriate content. As a result of this the ISPś will be allowed to choose a commercially available hardware filter from an Internet Content Filter Vendor , and adding it to their networks , and load the list of unwanted sites to be blocked . This trial is expected to be launched this December.
Meanwhile, the aussies have planned a protest against the government’s plans for mandatory ISP internet content filtering.Politicians and ISPs are expected to join the protest .They claim that the goverments plan would approximately block about 10,000 webpages out of 1 million.Participants have created Facebook groups and a YouTube video to rally support and direct activists to the events.
