  1. Hi There,

I guess there are some wrng information in that “Did you know” list ^^

    – There are no mosquitoes in France: Wrong! I live there so I know ^^

    – One punishment for an adulterous wife in medieval France is to make her chase a chicken through the town, naked: Well say true, but this was a european practice, there are traces of this type of punischment written down from Ireland to Hungary and Estonia (so kind of the half European Continen); whether, not only the French were bad 😛

Anyway, some interesting facts in there!

    Greetings from France

  2. Doctors use that illegible calligraphy because in ancient times it was a sort of secret code between them and apothecaries (old pharmacists), because the latter needed to prepare what was called a galenic preparation, it means a medicine prepared by the recipe provided both by the doctor and the apothecary. The ingredients had usually strange origins and need to be combined in specific manners. Patients must not know about that preparation because they could have been frightened. And, if they knew that, they would have probably done it themselves, and both doctors and apothecaries would not have been granted patients. This is the same that happens for us lawyers. Some things must be secret for the greater good!

Sorry for the lesson and for my grammatical errors (I’m Italian!). My family is full of doctors and that was the first question I asked them. I like that story!
