Microsoft Windows used to be the butt of the jokes in all commercial ads of Apple Mac.Time has come where the latter is silently advicing its users to install multiple Anti virus softwares for it Mac OS. Apple which used to boast of its security thru’ ads like “Last year there were 114,000 known viruses for PCs,…..PCs, not Macs“, has fallen prey to the growing number of experienced hackers. The motive behind such a fear may be the growing number of web exploits , most which target cross platform browsers like Safari.
Finnish cyber security firm, F-Secure, has detected 13 new samples of malicious software, or “malware,” targeting Apple’s OS X operating system.F-Secure also reports that the number of malware samples targeting Macs has actually dropped in the last 18 months. Compared with 13 samples found since July 1, F-Secure filtered out 61 samples in the earlier six months of the year, and 107 in the second half of 2007.
On Tuesday evening, Apple deleted the antivirus recommendation, writing in a statement to the press that it was “old and inaccurate,” and reiterating the claim that Apple devices are safe “right out of the box.”
