New tech varsity for TamilNadus premier colleges

The Government of Tamilnadu has planned to create a unitary technical university that would comprise of Guindy College of Engineering, Madras Institute of Technology, A C College of Technology, and School of Architecture and Planning.This is a move towards promoting research and to relieve the professors of Anna University of their over burden arising from having to look after the administrative works ,thus being left out with little time for research.

The government would float the new university this year itself after the expert recommendation to create  a unitary university that offers world-class  masters programmes and research facilities . Anna University (Chennai) vice-chancellor P Mannar Jawahar said the creation of a unitary university would fuel high quality research.
